چکیده

Abstract Receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases (RLCKs) form a large subfamily of proteins in plants. RLCKs are known to regulate plant immunity bacterial and fungal pathogens. In this study, we analyzed the genome-wide complement maize RLCK genes conducted detailed studies on one RLCK. The genome encodes 192 that largely mirror family other Previous implicated Arabidopsis BOTRYTIS INDUCED KINASE1 (BIK1) TOMATO PROTEIN KINASE 1b (TPK1b) resistance pathogen Pseudomonas syringae Botrytis cinerea . A novel RLCK, Zea Mays BIK1-LIKE 1 (ZmBLK1) , was identified based sequence similarity tomato RLCKs. We demonstrated ZmBLK1 displays protein kinase activity vitro localizes plasma membrane. Importantly, expression partially rescued growth disease phenotypes bik1 mutant induced at 12 h after inoculation with Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. nebraskensis (CMN), causing Goss’s wilt. Interestingly, overexpression transgenic increased CMN but did not impact Aspergillus ear rot caused by flavus associated aflatoxin contamination. These findings support our hypothesis contributes pathogens likely modulating events early infection, implying may interact membrane immune response pathway.

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

A receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase, BIK1, associates with a flagellin receptor complex to initiate plant innate immunity.

Plants and animals rely on innate immunity to prevent infections by detection of microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs) through pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs). The plant PRR FLS2, a leucine-rich repeat-receptor kinase, recognizes bacterial flagellin and initiates immune signaling by association with another leucine-rich repeat-receptor-like kinase, BAK1. It remains unknown how the ...

Inverse modulation of plant immune and brassinosteroid signaling pathways by the receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase BIK1.

Maintaining active growth and effective immune responses is often costly for a living organism to survive. Fine-tuning the shared cross-regulators is crucial for metazoans and plants to make a trade-off between growth and immunity. The Arabidopsis regulatory receptor-like kinase BAK1 complexes with the receptor kinases FLS2 in bacterial flagellin-triggered immunity and BRI1 in brassinosteroid (...

Arabidopsis receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase BIK1: purification, crystallization and X-ray diffraction analysis.

Receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases (RLCKs) in Arabidopsis play a central role in the integration of signaling input from various growth and immune signaling pathways. BOTRYTIS-INDUCED KINASE 1 (BIK1), belonging to the RLCK family, is an important player in defense against bacterial and fungal pathogens and in ethylene and brassinosteroid hormone signaling. In this study, the purification and cry...

Phytoremediation Potential of Maize (Zea mays L.). A Review

In most developing parts of the world, the rapid expansion of industrial areas leading to uncontrolled processing and utilization of industrial products, agricultural inputs, vehicular emissions and improper disposal of liquid and solid wastes may cause soil to become contaminated with chemical hazards such as heavy metals. Heavy metal contamination of soil may pose risks to humans and the ecos...
